Energy is the currency of survival

The sun is the genesis of all energy

I split an old Redgum fence post in two halves

It's made of a cell structure like scaffolding

An alchemy of invisible things

I dream the whole world is fiber art

Filaments made of sunlight

We'll burn the wood

It will warm our bones

Aid our every animal desire

Until you can eat dinner naked and the windows condensate

Love, is a feeling of warmth

I'm scared of preserving, scared of moulds and bacteria

Things that feed on sugar and indecision

Yet I would love to jar a row of kitchen jewellery

Summer's fruit in every colour

So that despite the footpath and the phone box

I know most of the world

is sugar - Filaments made of sunlight

I've never seen the kilns that burn our ancestors

Brimstone in the moonlight

Oil and Coal are small strategic words

They describe a backwards handshake - but I imagine

When they combust, the whole thing looks like fiber art

Filaments made of sunlight

Everyone says we are either being or doing but I think we're just, becoming

I have never been still in love, only ever falling in or out of it

and the world has never been still around me, only ever breathing in or out of it

and the stars have never stood still above me, as I take a pee in the yard

and I am quite sure that time has never once checked the calendar

it is as content with its own weaving as cheese on toast.
