Welcome to my blog, the artist's diary. It's a mish-mash of murals, mythology, fine art, gardening and musings on the mystery.

Betwixt! Exploring Faerie mythology and history.
I chose the theme of faeries because they are the perfect motif for a changing world. Faeries represent change itself, they are neither energy nor form but rather the connection between them. Within mythology they appear on the threshold of transition, at dawn and dusk, betwixt and between, where a baby is born, where a person dies, where the garden turns into the forest. They represent the hyper natural - ephemeral, beautiful and dangerous.

Eve in the Garden of Eden (creative writing)
Our story begins with the endless stars and a sense of completion, Eve knows the garden because she is part of it. Every morning the sun rises and every evening it sets, the days unfurl like flowers within a greenhouse, this place knows no scarcity and no adversity.

The Moon in biodynamics, (Study Notes #2)
I love the Moon and am delighted to be researching this cosmic body and it's influences in farming. Within biodynamics this is closely considered and understanding the moon's phases and position intimately, as well as it's zodiac alignments, can help immensely with farm planning. The Moon's presence and gravity affect literally everything but can be understood in terms of water, which is a conduit for energy and an intrinsic part of life force. This post will focus on an unde

The diary of an artist Poetry Anthology - live updated.
Energy is the currency of survival The sun is the genesis of all energy I split an old Redgum fence post in two halves It's made of a cell structure like scaffolding An alchemy of invisible things I dream the whole world is fiber art Filaments made of sunlight We'll burn the wood It will warm our bones Aid our every animal desire Until you can eat dinner naked and the windows condensate Love, is a feeling of warmth I'm scared of preserving, scared of moulds and bacteria Thing

Juniper Trees and the botanical adventures of a very hungry artist
Although undeniably pretty with it's silvery foliage and ornamental shape, Juniper may come across as unassuming. Whether it's stuffed into a spray of ornamentals or forming a lonely spire in a park, don't let this tree fool you, it's ancient and most definitely magical. My obsession with Juniper was sparked two weeks ago when I ordered Juniper seeds online. I didn't think much of it until the next day when I found two more packets of Juniper seeds in the cupboard! I had a lo

Elder Trees and the Botanical adventures of a very hungry artist
What do Faeries, cough syrup and mulching have to do with each other you ask? A question I'm sure many of us have puzzled over... It's the Elder Tree! A useful, magical tree who's whimsy is absolutely off the whimso-meter. Last week I caught up with my lovely friend Catie and she told me the Elder berries are in season, the perfect excuse for a foraging romp! I’ve often foraged for Elder flowers but am new to the tiny clusters of black berries. This week has been all about l

Cover Crops (Study Notes #1)
Cover cropping is a method of soil restoration, which follows a seasonal pattern of regeneration. By working with plants specific to the soil needs, growers can increase the available nutrients, capture carbon in the soil, feed the soil biology (critters) and fight erosion. "If we observe Nature, we see very rapidly that she abhors a vacuum. If land is cleared she will cover that bare soil as rapidly as possible. There will not be one weed, but a diversity of pioneer plant l

History of gouache, everything you need to know about this ancient medium.
You can think of gouache as watercolour's hotter cousin, with a stunning array of colours, a zen painting experience and a huge range of possible styles this might just be the most underrated art medium ever! Within this post I dive into what gouache is, how it's made and what each ingredient means, making it at home and even cover some of it's extensive history. I'm excited to write about 'painting with gouache' soon, this will be the brush work and techniques used to create

This mural changed me!
I am so proud of this mural which now lights up the entry way of Oshun yoga studio, but creating it was like a big fat injection of 'Trust the process' from the universe. I worked closely with Kira, the owner and founder of Oshun for the design and together we created an unique drawing of Ganesha the elephant-headed Hindu god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. Oshun already had this gorgeous muted but earthy colour scape and we wanted the mural to blend in seamlessly

Waxing Moon Chai Mural
&The importance of asking deeper design questions. I was beyond excited to create this mini mural for Waxing Moon Chai, it incorporates all my favourite elements of design with a soft whimsical shape, harmonious colour pallette and gorgeous symmetry. The most important thing I ask my clients to start the design process is how do you want the mural to feel? I've had a lot of ephemeral and sometimes random answers but I love this question so much because it brings people out of
